For the 2019 - 2020 school year, we will offer families the option to purchase school supplies directly through the school (via the SchoolCashOnline payment system). Our goals are to reduce cost and
“over-purchasing”, and to reduce the amount of packaging ending up in the waste
The school is able to purchase school supplies on behalf of families at a considerably reduced cost by using
our corporate options. This strategy will
give us the flexibility to purchase items as we run low, rather than
"stocking up” in the fall only to find we have many items left over unused
at the end of the year. It will also allow us to purchase more
specialty items than we have been able to before. We anticipate being
able to reduce our environmental footprint by up to 30% from the previous
Glen Elementary has successfully followed a similar purchasing strategy for kindergarten school
supplies for many years, and so we anticipate that expanding this strategy will
produce successful results. For
Emails inviting families to make online school supply purchases (at cost, for $50.00) will be sent before the end of June, 2019. Online sales will remain open over the summer and into September.
For those families who
would prefer to purchase supplies on their own, supply lists will be available
on the school website at the end of this school year (end of June, 2019).
