May 7 National Child and Youth Mental Health Day

May 7th is about building caring connections between young people and the caring adults in their lives. We know having caring, connected conversations can have a big impact on the mental health of children and youth.

Conversations about mental health:  What it sounds like at different ages.

It’s never too early to start … and never too late to keep trying. Join us for a conversation about how to connect with our kids between the ages of 0 to 18 years. Led by Karen Peters, RCC ThriveLife Counselling and Victoria Keddis, Parent & Manager, FamilySmart

We are looking forward to our May and June "Help for the Hard Times" workshop series and would love your help with spreading the word to let families know about it.

This workshop is for Fraser families and caregivers whose child or youth has been a patient at Surrey Hospital's CAPSU or APU. Space may be available for other Fraser families who have had an inpatient stay at another hospital or repeated hospital emergency room visits.

We are hosting a Daytime and Evening Workshop Series for Fraser families in May and June.
Please find attached:

  • A poster with dates and info for the Daytime and Evening May and June sessions.
  • A rack card for promoting the workshop series on-going.

YOLO (Youth Offering Listening Opportunities) is an event where adults listen to youth speak about their life experiences in order to support parents/caregivers understanding.

MAY YOLO topics will be:

How can I talk with my youth about gaming and social media?
What is the appeal of gaming and social media use?
How can I improve communication with my youth?
What new strategies can I use in parenting my youth?

This event will be held on Zoom - if there are concerns regarding tech… have no fear! We can walk each person through to ensure they can participate.
