Music Explorations:

Every student will participate in Music during their Explorations rotation each year. In Music Explorations, students can expect to learn basic music theory and language, as well as how to perform and compose music with a variety of instruments.

Concert Bands:

Every student has the opportunity to enrol in Maillard's Concert Band, regardless of their ability or experience. 

In Beginning Band, students learn the basics of how to play and care for their instruments, as well as how to rehearse and perform music with a large group of their peers. Throughout the year, students will participate in multiple performances and fieldtrips to enrich their musical education.

Beginning Band Interest Form for 2025/2026 School Year​

Advanced Band is where students really take off. After a year of Beginning Band, students have the opportunity to join our Advanced Band where they play more exciting and complex music, honing their musical abilities and preparing them for High School band. Advanced Band students will participate in even more performances and fieldtrips to feed and showcase their growth as musicians.

​Returning Band Students for 2025/2025 School Year

Jazz Band:

Keen students that have shown dedication to their instrument have the opportunity to play in Maillard's Jazz Band. A smaller ensemble with a focus on individual playing and performing music in a variety of styles, Jazz Band challenges students to become the best musician they can be. Jazz Band performances are often the highlight of our concerts.

Choir:

Every student has a voice and the ability to participate in Maillard's choir. Run as a club, students learn proper vocal technique, ensemble singing, and perform exciting music in a variety of different styles. Students have the opportunity to participate in multiple performances and fieldtrips throughout the year. If students wish to just attend rehearsals and fieldtrips, and don't want to participate in performances, that is totally fine.

Beginning Band: Tuesdays & Fridays @ 7:30am-8:25am

(Starting 2nd Monday of the year - September 15th)

Advanced Band: Mondays & Thursdays @ 7:30am-8:25am

(Starting 1st Monday of the year - September 8th)​

Jazz Band: One lunch per week - Exact day TBD in September

(Starting 3rd week of September)

Choir: Tuesdays & Thursday @ Lunch

Winter Dress-Rehearsal - Wednesday December 10th @ 1:15pm

Winter Concert - Wednesday December 10th @ 6:30pm (doors open at 6:00pm)

Year-End Dress Rehearsal - Wednesday May 27th @ 1:15pm

Year-End Concert - Wednesday June 17th @ 6:30pm (doors open at 6:00pm)
