​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Physical activity is an important part of an student’s life. It improves health, concentration and self-esteem. It also reduces stress and promotes physical growth and development. Our sports programs aim to develop in our students a positive attitude and an interest in a wide range of physical activities. They also aim to raise student’s awareness in making good health and fitness choices.

📣 Notes for Families

  • 🏅 Athletes will be added to sport-specific Microsoft Teams pages on their school account. These pages will include updates, schedules, and team communications.

  • For sport-specific questions, reach out directly to your child's coach

📍 Where: Percy Perry Stadium
📆 When: Wednesday, May 13
🕗 Arrive by: 8:30 AM
👕 Wear: Your school track jersey
Sign in with Coach Surj when you arrive - Sign out with Coach Surj when you leave. Hand in jersey before leaving.

βœ… What to Expect on Meet Day
  • You will compete by grade and gender, not by age.
  • You may compete in up to 3 individual events and 1 relay.
  • The meet runs all day, with events scheduled from morning until about 3:00 PM.
  • Parking is free, and concessions will be open.
  • Your school will be assigned a section of bleachers to sit, rest, and store your things.

🧠 Important Rules (Read Carefully!)
  • 🚫 No spikes allowed β€” make sure your shoes are spike‑free.
  • 🥤 Water only on the track and infield.
  • 🍔 Food and drinks are only allowed in the bleachers.
  • 🟢 Stay out of the infield unless:
    • You are competing now, or
    • You are going to your next event, or
    • You are being sent to a relay exchange zone
  • 👕 You must wear your school jersey to compete.

⏱️ Running Events – What You Need to Know
  • 100m
    • Run in timed heats
    • Top 8 times go to the final
  • 200m (Grades 6 & 7 only)
    • Timed final, run in lanes
  • 400m (Grade 8 only)
    • Timed final, run in lanes
  • 800m & 1500m
    • One race (timed final)
  • 4 Γ— 100m Relay
    • Batons are provided
    • Stay in your lane while holding the baton
    • Leaving your lane or interfering = disqualification

🏟️ Field Events – What You Need to Know
Most field events:
  • You get 3 attempts
  • Your best attempt counts
  • Only throws/jumps that meet the minimum standard will be measured
Field Event Basics:
  • High Jump
    • 3 attempts per height
    • Bar goes up by 5 cm
  • Shot Put / Discus
    • Enter and exit the back of the circle
    • Don’t step out during your throw
  • Javelin (Grade 8 only)
    • Must land tip first
    • Do not cross the front line
  • Long Jump
    • Your foot must take off before the board
  • Triple Jump
    • Must be hop β†’ step β†’ jump
🏅 Ribbons are awarded 1st–8th place in each event.

🕑 What If Two Events Are at the Same Time?
  • βœ… Check in first at your field event
  • Leave your name sticker with the official
  • Go run your race
  • Come back to the field event as quickly as possible
