Location of the Field Trip:     Belcarra Regional Park
We have planned a school-wide trip with curricular connections to Belcarra Regional Park.  We will explore the beach ecosystem and do our part to clean up the beach as an action we were challenged with by the Aquarium when they visited us.  We will also head into the woods for a walk and to try some interactive games to help us understand how animals survive and thrive in that ecosystem.  We will also have time to play on the playground, and try out some field activities and games.
Students will need to bring:    Dress appropriately for weather – hats, sunscreen, walking shoes, water and raingear.  Backpack with your extra items, spare clothes, snack and lunch provided by BPAC:  Water, chips, hot dogs.  Parent volunteers needed to make this happen.  Students can bring supplemental food as necessary.
Teacher(s)/Administrator(s) in Charge:  Ms. Anjos and all teachers
Cost of Optional Field Trip:    $0.  BPAC has generously paid for the buses.
We require parent volunteers for this trip.  Please indicate on the return form if you can volunteer.  Parents attending will need to find their own way as buses are for students and staff only.

Good afternoon, information regarding our field trip Friday, June 1st
Arrival time; 8:50 am.  If you are going to be late, please advise the school ASAP by phone 604-941-3428.  Should your child be late, you may need to transport them to Belcarra.
Students will need to bring:  Dress appropriately for weather – hats, sunscreen, walking shoes (no open toe shoes/flip flops, etc), water and raingear (if needed for weather).  Backpack with your extra items, spare clothes, snack, water bottle and lunch provided by BPAC:  drink, chips, hot dog (regular & vegetarian).
BPAC is kindly providing a hot dog, drink and chips to all students, parent volunteers and staff.  Please bring supplemental food as necessary.
VOLUNTEERS – School and BPAC Lunch:   Thank you for volunteering for our Belcarra trip!
We have an exciting day planned.  We will be spending a little over an hour in each of 3 different activities: at the beach, in the woods and at the field/playground.  The students will be in 3 multi-aged groups.  Classroom teachers will move with their class to the different activities.  Volunteers will be with a particular class to ensure we have appropriate supervision with each group.  Volunteers will be experiencing all the activities as well.  We will do our best to place you with your child but if you have two children at Birchland we may not be able to manage placing you with both.  We will enjoy lunch together and so that would be a time that you would be able to spend some time with your other child.
Our amazing BPAC is going to be preparing a hotdog lunch for each student, they have volunteers that will be focused on preparing the meal.  These volunteers are not included in our supervision numbers.  BPAC lunch volunteers.  Thank you for everyone who filled those spots.  birchlandparentadvisorycouncil@gmail.com
We have some space on the buses for parents, but not enough for everyone.  We will have some parents driving to Belcarra and are willing to take other parent volunteers.  Please come to the front foyer after dropping off your child to their classroom, this will allow us to organize which bus or which car you will be travelling in to get to the park.
Thanks for all you do to support our community and for helping out to make sure our day will be fantastic!
Parking – a reminder to parents that the staff parking lot is for staff only.  Where possible, please walk or park a distance from school to allow ample space for buses parking.
If your child will be absent that day and you have not advised the school, please do so as soon as possible.  On line absence form or email birchland@sd43.bc.ca
