Ministry of Education update – July 31, 2019

The following was sent to BC School Districts by the Ministry of Education:

We understand that this situation is stressful for students and families.
We are focused on resolving this as quickly as possible.
There was an anomaly in the tabulation of the Grade 12 June exam results and a team of ministry staff are actively working to identify and resolve the issue.
The ministry is reviewing each June 2019 exam result to ensure student grades are accurately reflected on their transcripts.
All B.C. secondary schools have been contacted and advised of the issue.
The ministry has also contacted B.C. post-secondary institutions to inform them of the issue and help ensure no student applications are impacted.
We are also actively contacting Canadian post-secondary institutions and will work with outside post-secondary institutions as needed.

Work continued overnight, and we are implementing additional quality assurance steps into our standard processes to ensure this issue is fully remediated. We are confident that we have identified the root cause of the issue, and will be able to release revised assessment results shortly.
