Happy New Year to ALL of our EMMSOTA Families.
We hope you had an amazing holiday season with family and friends. It was nice to see your children back in the building yesterday, working through new sleep routines, as are the staff!
We just have a few quick updates in our first few days back that we wanted to get out to you all.
I have attached cross catchment and program of choice information again for your reference. There are some deadlines that come early in January, so please be aware and check both school and district websites for any updates. I will be sending a separate email to families of Grade 8 Students with a few more reminders and important dates to consider, sometime this week. All Grade 8 families should have received a letter before the Winter Break outlining what catchment school they will be going to in Grade 9. It also provided cross catchment information should you wish to go to a school outside your catchment. If you did not receive your Grade 9 catchment information in an email the last week of break please contact Mrs. DeGroot cdegroot@sd43.bc.ca for the correct information. Thank you
** Programs of Choice: Early and Late French Immersion for September 2023**
Apply on the main page of SD43 website, between January 5, 2023 at 9:00am to January 11, 2023 at 4:00pm.
- Children with siblings in a Program of Choice must still apply online.
- Siblings will be given priority if the older sibling is in the program of choice in September 2023.
Applications will be processed on a RANDOM DRAW BASIS.
**Please pay attention to all deadlines if your child is moving into a new school level, a new school out of catchment, or a program of choice.

HOT LUNCH is BACK in 2023!!: Tonight is the deadline for dominos hot lunch orders. See Image attached.
Activities are starting right back up in the New Year with Grade 8 girls volleyball finishing up and all grades basketball starting this week and next. Keep your eyes and ears out for the announcements. We hope to have Grade 6, 7, 8 girls and boys teams if we have enough players and coaches.
Ski Club is off for their first downhill experience starting Thursday January 12. Subsequent dates will be January 19, 26 and February 2, 2023. The students are all very excited.
Port Moody Parks and Rec are now offering their Winter Sessions, see attached brochure for sessions and sign up. New to EMMSOTA this year is our Youth Drop IN with our Port Moody Parks and Rec Youth Workers. This will be happening Wednesdays and Thursdays afterschool until 4:30. Rec Counsellors will be hanging out in our Youth Lounge and will ask that students sign in and out if they are planning on attending. Please email Mclay@sd43.bc.ca if you have any questions.
