PAC Lunch Program
The PAC organizes monthly Hot Lunches, Treat Days, and Pizza Days, which provide children with healthy, exciting lunches while also raising funds that go directly back to Blakeburn.
- Hot lunch is a monthly program where parents can order a lunch for their children that will be delivered to them in the classroom. The PAC partners with well known companies to provide kids with exciting meals that are still within the nutritional guidelines laid out by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health. Orders are taken for these lunches on a quarterly basis using an online ordering system called Munchalunch, which allows parents to place orders, print menus, and pay by credit card from the comfort of home.
- Treat Day happens once a month, and students can bring in money to buy a special treat like cookies, freezies, and dilly bars, at recess time. Note that December’s Special Treat Day is pre-ordered online through Munchalunch.
For more information on these programs, see the PAC website: http://www.blakeburnpac.org/hot-lunch-pizza--special-treats.html
- Lunch Lady is an independently run lunch delivery program that provides lunches on Wednesdays to students who have pre-ordered on their website. This lunch program is not related to the school or PAC and does not raise funds for the school.
- BC School Fruit and Vegetable Nutrition Program. Our school is involved in a province-wide healthy living initiative. One of the goals is to encourage healthy eating by providing fresh B.C. fruits and vegetables to the students during classroom time, every couple of weeks. The students will receive picked, washed and ready to enjoy produce, at no cost to the school or parents. This program is not a PAC initiative, but parent volunteers help to coordinate and distribute the produce to the classrooms.
