Thank you so much for your inquiry of Eagle Mountain Middle's Music Program. β
We offer both Choir and Beginning Band for all grades interested in participating in music.
Interested in joining Beginning Band? You'll find a Registration link below that takes you to a form to sign up and pick your instrument. The video is very important to introduce the different instruments that make up concert band and listen to each one.
βFirst come, first serve for instrument selections. There are limited numbers of each instrument to have a balanced band.
Band is a fun way to learn a new instrument, meet new friends across the whole school, and get special opportunities to perform at school, as well as go on fieldtrips to perform at district band days.
Choir is a confidence-building and fun way to make beautiful music and beautiful friendships.

Unless you previously own your instrument, it is highly recommended to rent your instrument for a minimum of one year. Dropping the instrument just one time can cause expensive repairs. Long and McQuade music store in Port Coquitlam (near Costco) is the largest music store chain in Canada. They know what they are doing. If anything goes wrong with the instrument, L & M has an amazing insurance policy that only adds $1-2. a month.
SAVE THE DATE! Thursday, Sept. 18th 5:30pm EMM Music Room For your convenience, L & M will be at EMM for Parent Rental Night.
Mrs. Ipe will have important information to share about the music program and Long and McQuade will have rental forms, instruments on display, and they will be able to answer your questions.
Tuesday Sept. 23rd 6 - 7:30pm SQUEEKS AND SQUAWKS Beginning Band kick-off event! All new students must attend. Please arrive at 5:45pm in the music room to pick up your instrument. L & M will deliver the instruments to EMM in time for Squeeks and Squawks. Beginning Band students are taught by Heritage Woods senior band students (we have an amazing relationship!). Beginners will be taught how to take good care of their instrument, how to make a sound and their first few notes! Parents return for students' first "concert" in the gym at 7pm. Students then learn how to clean and pack up their instrument before leaving. A very important (and FUN) event that should not be missed.
Class Schedule: Yes, they are classes. These are not clubs. Students of these classes receive extra credit and a report card grade!β
Beginning Band Class - Tues. Sept. 15 @ 7:40am (with no instruments) First step is to introduce ourselves and learn to read rhythms and notes. Instruments come Tues. Sept. 23rd and then students bring their instrument and music to every class.
Advanced Band Class - Thurs., Sept. 18 @ 7:40am (quick auditions start second week of school β students sign up first week for their time)
Choir Class - Weds., Sept. 17 @ 7:45am for grades 6, 7, and 8.
