ICBC Learner Permit Program 

Please complete the application below and submit it to your Youth Worker, Counselor or Post Secondary Advisor.

  • Program Dates: Tuesday, May 12 & 19, 2026 @ 1100 Winslow Avenue

Course information:

The What the L Program gives students the opportunity to prepare for and earn their “L” driver’s license while also developing valuable skills in safety, responsibility, and independence.

This is a 2-day program offered to students 16 years and older, providing step-by-step support from an ICBC instructor.

What’s Included:

  • Two-day session with an ICBC instructor
  • Practice tests and driver manuals
  • Transportation to the ICBC testing center
  • “L” test booked through SD43 (skip the wait times)
  • Lunch is  provided

Occupational First Aid- Level 1 -Applications Now Open!

  • Program Dates: Friday May 22, 2026 @ 1080 Winslow Avenue

Course information:

Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 is a one-day course designed to cover all medical techniques considered to be within the responsibility of the Occupational First Aid Level 1 Attendant as required by the Workers' Compensation Board of BC (WCB). 

Requirements:

  • age: must be at least 16 years old at the time of the course
  • Students will pay $95.00 (Normally $130-$1500 to non-members)
  • Must have valid government-issued photo ID is required to receive a certificate (ex: driver's license, passport, NEXUS, BCID,...)

Main topics covered include:

  • Basic Life Support (CPR - A) -- CPR with Automated Defibrillator Training
  • Small Wound Management
  • Critical Airway, breathing and circulation interventions with C-spine management

In order to be successful, participants must demonstrate practical skill competency and achieve 70% on a multiple choice exam. On successful completion of the course, participants receive a 3-year certification

BCIT "Enhanced Bridge Watch Rating" Program

Are you passionate about our coastal waters?

Start your career at sea as a deckhand! Explore a marine career working on tugboats, ferries, or deep-sea vessels. BCIT is offering, tuition-free,  the Enhanced Bridge Watch Rating Program and the hands-on training required for a sea faring career.

Age requirement:

  • must be at least 18 by the end of the program... could start when 17, depending on your birthdate
  • open to grads (up to age 26).

Intake dates and times:

  • BCIT will be updating the dates (usually Mon - Fri, 8.30am - 3.30pm)
