On June 21st we celebrated National Indigenous People's Day by gathering together and drumming and singing a variety of indigenous songs that Ms. Clark our fantastic music teacher has been teaching everyone over the past 6 months. The song were gifted to her by various indigenous artists. The drums were made by our grade 5's this year and have been used every day by our students to celebrate Indigenous culture.
Mr. Morwick recently made his own drum and in the picture Ms. Clark is helping him "wake" his drum up by playing a heart beat rhythm over it as well as salt was poured over the drum to give it "flavour" in its sound. Mr. Morwick then played a heart beat rhythm with Ms. Clark as his drum came "alive"
