Please visit here for Rochester Library in Destiny: All students fdrom Kindergarten through to Grade five have a scheduled book exchange time each week. Students are encouraged to sign out books to take home. In addition to our book collection, the library also includes magazines and other reference materials. Our school circulation/catalogue is computerized and students are assigned an identity number for use of library materials. Our librarian also organizes Book Fairs, Family Reading Nights and Writers' Club. Many of our intermediate students participate in the Library Monitor Program.

Family Reading Night : Families of Rochester are invited to attend our two family reading nights to foster a love of reading. These special events takeplace in the fall and late spring and often take a different form each year.  

 Library Monitors: The Library Monitor Program has started in the Rochester Library and there are 74 monitors this year!  This is the biggest group ever!  At Rochester Elementary School, library monitors play an important role: in fact, in a school with almost 20,000 English and French books, their assistance is invaluable.  Monitoring students can be seen reading aloud to primary students in both French and English; encouraging primary students to read to them as reading buddies; helping students to find research materials; promoting special library activities around the school; decorating the library; helping to sort non-fiction books by using decimals and the Dewey Decimal System and checking in and out books for younger students.  We are very proud of our monitors as they uphold the principles of Library Citizenship: Respect, Responsibility, Focus and Friendship.  Thank you to all of you monitors and let’s look forward to a great upcoming year!   

  Book Fairs: Each year we host a Book Fair to provide an opportunity for families to purchase books and raise funds for our library. These special events are advertised in our monthly newsletter. Look out for the dates!
