We recently had an assembly to celebrate the atheticism of many of our students. For the Hyde Creek Triathalon we had some students place in the top 5. For individual s (meaning they did all three events themselves)Sophie Lauzon took 2nd place for the girls, Liam Gorton took 2nd place and Rayem Shalevich took 3rd place for the boys. For team Liam Gorton and matvey Shlyk took 3rd place overall for the boys. Unfortunately we did not take home the school overall trophy this year, which means we need to work even harder next year to try to get it back(we have won it the last few years). A huge thank you to Pam Farmer who took on the organization of this even again this year!!
For the kilometre club this year we had 218 participants, a total of 9686 kilometres were run which is like running all the way to Ottawa and back! This was a total of 19,372 laps of the track at Robert Hope Park. The top runners were Hannah Regio for the girls with a total of 83 kilometres and for the boys Rayem Shalebich with 92 kilometres. Their names are engraved on the plaque that is kept at the showcase near the office. A huge thank youto Paula Clarke who took on the organization this year and to the many parents who showed up for the 18 days of running and did stamping/marshalling/popsicle patrol, counting up stamps and putting out and taking down all the paraphenalia needed to run this event!
