Providing support in over 10 languages, the SWIS team provides direct, personal and culturally responsive settlement services to all refugee and permanent resident families. 

Our team offers needs assessments, school and settlement-oriented services to help the smooth transition to Canadian life.

Serving all schools across School District 43, Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) bring invaluable lived experience to the settlement journey. Their firsthand understanding of the newcomer experience helps foster trust and build meaningful connections with students and families. With diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives, SWIS are uniquely positioned to offer culturally responsive support, helping school communities feel seen, understood, and empowered.
