Scholastic Book Fair - Volunteers Needed

November 08, 2022

Hello EMMSOTA Families!

Good news!  The  SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR  is coming back to Moody Middle NEXT WEEK!!

The Fair will run all week and stay open later on the days of the Student/Teacher/Parent Triad Conferences.

To ensure the Fair runs smoothly, Ms. Leonard, the school's librarian, is reaching out for help from parents and caregivers to volunteer.

Unlike in Elementary School Book Fairs, the students play a very active role in volunteering.  As a parent volunteer, you will be there to oversee the students when other students and parents buy books to ensure they are adding correctly and giving the right change.  You will step in to troubleshoot if needed and make sure the areas of book displays are kept neat.

It's a lot of fun to interact with the kids; and Ms Leonard is also usually there during the lunch hours for extra help and to monitor the flow of kids in and out of the library.  She will also be there in and out on the other shifts.

If you haven't volunteered at a Book Fair before, and love books, this is a great place to be.  Plus - you can check out some books if you're thinking of Christmas presents.....

The schedule is below and how many parents have been requested:

Book Fair Set up:  THIS Thursday, Nov 10 at 3:00pm - Three parents requested.  Two minimum.

Book Fair will open at the following times:

Monday - 12:15-12:50pm (during the lunch hour) - one parent requested

Tuesday - 12:15-12:50pm (during the lunch hour) - one parent requested

Tuesday - 3:00-5:00pm - first day of triad conferences - one or two parent(s) requested

Wednesday - 12:15-7:00pm* (ish).  Second day of the Triad Conferences - first with early dismissal.  Students are let out at 12:15, so there is no lunch hour.  But conferences will begin so parent help is requested.  One or two parents requested.  Can be more if shifts are split.

Thursday - 12:15-5:00pm* (ish). Third day of the Triad Conferences - second with early dismissal. Same as Wednesday.  One or two parents requested.  Can be more if shifts are  split.

Friday - 12:15-1:00pm (during the lunch hour) - one parent requested

Note - end times for the Triad Conference days may not go as late, and you may not need to stay as long.  As mentioned, shifts can also be split.

This is just the second in-person Book Fair held since COVID, and having this come back to the library is a treat.  Parent and Caregiver volunteers help in its success.

If you have some time on Thursday after school or next week to volunteer, please contact me at emmsotapac@gmail.com and indicate the day(s) and time(s) you can help.  Allison, PAC's Volunteer Coordinator, will follow up with you by email.

Thanks!
