Happy Near End of Summer Future and Current EMMSOTA Families.
As mentioned at the end of our school year we are hosting an informal meet and greet orientation/open house for those families wanting to get into see the building before the actual first day of school.
If you are in town by all means stop by for one or the other time slots. We will meet inside the front foyer on the Rainbow Steps and chat for a few minutes before we let you wander the building with some of our EMMSOTA Student Leaders as hosts. This is completely optional and students who do not attend will be provided with plenty of opportunities to get acquainted with the school over the course of the first few days. We will also hold a 1 hour orientation for new students on our first day back on September 6th at 10 AM. We will be meeting in the Gym and our student leaders and some teachers will be on hand to welcome your children and get them acquainted with the school and set them up for success on our first week back.

I will be sending out a “Welcome Back" message to all of our EMMSOTA families later this week. Here are a couple quick reminders for our new families.
Our first Tuesday back on September 6th is only for a short time. One hour for new students and only 30-45 minutes for our returning students. All of your school supplies are not usually needed in our first few days as we participate in get to know you and community building activities. Nothing is needed for the first Tuesday. Information will be provided to all students what to bring for the rest of the week. Homeroom classes will not be confirmed until Friday afternoon or Monday morning. WE will need time to adjust for new registrations.
Attendance in our first few days back is very important as we have to finalize our classes and confirm numbers to the District. If you know you will not be here on the first day or two back please contact the office and let us know. We are a “Bring Your Own Device School" (BYOD), so if you are still looking for a laptop for your child please check out the link on our website http://www.sd43.bc.ca/school/moody/ProgramsServices/Technology/Pages/default.aspx#/= for some specifics about a suitable laptop. We do provide loaners for families that may not be able to purchase a laptop before September. Please fill in the form also on our website and submit to your classroom teacher or Mr. Clay in the first or second week of September.

We are once again planning on hosting our school wide community BBQ on our first Friday back, September 9th, and parents are welcome to join us on that afternoon. More details to come in late August.
We are looking forward to meeting you all in the coming weeks. I hope your children are excited about joining us at École Moody Middle School of the Arts (EMMSOTA). We are very excited to get to know them!
