Early Dismissal 1:45 PM & Parent-Teacher Conferences - Tomorrow and Thursday
A reminder to all our families, there are early dismissals tomorrow and Thursday (October 21 & 22) at 1:45 PM to accommodate our virtual Parent-Teacher Conference days. If you have yet to schedule a time with your child's teacher, please contact your child's teacher directly. If you need any help connecting with your child's teacher, please call the office at 604-939-1151.
Provincial Pro-D Day – Friday, October 23rd
No school for students this Friday as there is a Provincial Professional Development Day.
Halloween 2020
Friday, October 30th will be “Halloween" at Parkland. As is the case with most events, we are having to make adjustments to make sure we are following the health and safety protocols outlined by the province and district. We will be having a special virtual assembly in the morning. We are inviting students (and staff) to dress up on this day provided we can continue to be safe and responsible.
Some reminders and points to keep in mind:
COSTUMES
This year, costumes will need to be worn throughout the day. Please remember, parents will not be able to enter the school to help with costumes and teachers will not be able to help with costumes. My suggestion – only have your child wear what they can manage for a full day this year. This may be only part of their costume.
Halloween themed clothing and colours is an option I would encourage this year if your child's costume may be difficult to wear for the entire day.
WASHROOM USE FOR CHANGING
Washroom use is controlled, so we can't have students heading in there to get dressed up. Please have your child wear what they are going to wear to school for the day.
APPROPRIATENESS
No weapons or items that look like weapons. No glamorization of gang or drug culture. Nothing that could be deemed racist, sexist, homo/transphobic or offensive.
FOOD/CANDY
Schools have strict guidelines that there is no sharing or exchange of food items, including individually packaged food or pre-packaged items. Do not send any treats for distribution to classmates. Your teacher may have a time in the day where your child may be able to have a special Halloween snack time – this snack will need to be something you pack for your child, to be consumed by your child.
