Youth at the Booth is Elections BC’s program to hire high school students as election officials during provincial elections and by-elections.

We are currently accepting applications from individuals interested in future election official opportunities. Qualified applicants may be contacted if a provincial general election is called within the next six months.

Interested? You can take part in the program if you are a high school student:

• between 15 and 19,
• interested in community service, student government or service clubs,
• able to work in a neutral and impartial way, and
• comfortable using technology.

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, have a valid SIN and their parent or guardian’s approval to apply.

Low Entropy Foundation's Bridging Generations program brings together youth aged 16–24 and seniors aged 55+ for weekly activities and conversations that build meaningful connections across generations. Students can gain valuable community experience, reduce social isolation, develop communication and teamwork skills, and earn volunteer hours that may count toward graduation requirements, subject to their school’s approval.

The upcoming program details are:

• Orientation: Friday, October 9, 2026, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
• Sessions: Fridays, October 16–December 11, 2026, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
• Location: Coquitlam City Centre Aquatic Complex, 1210 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam

Volunteers will be assigned as greeters, first point of contact for voters, welcome, direct voters to the appropriate line and answer questions. Volunteers are needed at each of the 9 polling stations throughout the city- shifts available Oct 7, Oct 10, Oct 17.
