About the Encompass 10–12 Program
Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and personalized learning environment where students can build confidence, develop meaningful connections, and successfully work toward graduation and future goals.
Program Overview
Encompass 10–12 Program and Purpose
Encompass is an alternate education program serving students in Grades 10–12 who require a more personalized approach to learning and would benefit from a smaller, supportive educational environment. We offer a structured yet flexible school day from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, with smaller class sizes that allow for stronger relationships with teachers and enhanced individualized support.
The Encompass program is designed for students who have experienced challenges in traditional school settings and would benefit from a learning environment that prioritizes connection, engagement, and student success. Staff work closely with students, families, caregivers, and community partners to develop individualized learning plans that support both academic achievement and personal growth.
Students participate in a combination of self-paced learning and direct instruction tailored to their unique strengths, needs, and graduation goals. While flexibility is built into programming, students are encouraged to attend regularly and participate fully in their learning community.
Our focus extends beyond academics. We support students in developing confidence, self-advocacy skills, positive relationships, and the habits needed for success in school, work, and life. Our ultimate goal is to help students graduate and transition successfully to their chosen post-secondary pathway, employment, or other future pursuits.
Eligibility and Referral Procedures to Encompass
Referrals to Encompass are initiated by a student's home school administrator contacting the Encompass Principal. Students coming from outside the district must contact Mr. Darren MacMillan, District Principal, by phone at 604-937-3105 (ext. 105) or by email. Priority is given to students currently registered in School District No. 43 (Coquitlam), and all referrals are considered through school-based team processes and Encompass intake procedures.
The Encompass program is located at Vanier Centre, 1600 King Albert Street, Coquitlam, BC.
