Port Moody Day Friday April 29th

April 28, 2011
Grade 12 Exit Interviews -interviews are scheduled by appointment:

Our 2011 Graduates will be concluding part of their academic journey by completing their Grad Transition or IB CAS Exit Interviews on Friday, April 29th.  Our students will engage in a conversation or story telling about their educational experiences and big learning that has occurred over the last four years.  Students will share the information about Healthy Living, Community Connections, Career and Life Transitions.  There is more information provided with the Grad Transition checklist.  The IB CAS students will include information from the Grad Transition Program as well as present evidence that meets the 8 objectives.  Students will meet for 20-30 minutes with two adults who are from the school staff, district staff and community members.  Along with the stories, students may bring documentation, pictures, awards, or other memorabilia.  The additional items truly add to the presentation and we encourage students to do so.

Grade 9, 10 and 11 Assembly on April 29th –dismissal at 12:30 pm

All of our support and teaching staff are involved in the assessments. Every room is used to interview students. Therefore, as we have done over the last four years, we have had a special half day program for the grade 9, 10 and 11 students by touching on a significant topic that is part of our PMSS Vision-Common Purpose.  The topic dovetails with two of the four themes:  “Socially Responsibility Theme” and “Personal Wellness”, as well as our Action Plan for Learning with the Goal on Safety. This assembly for the 9s, 10s and 11s focuses on Drug & Alcohol Awareness and Safety.  This topic is timely due to the upcoming Grad Celebrations and concern with student safety with drugs and alcohol. Students will begin their day at 8:30 am by attending their Phoenix Class where the “shape of the day” and attendance will be taken.  Students will be escorted to the gym for the presentation by Dwayne Peace who has worked closely with PMSS on our DARE TO CARE Campaign over the last three years.  Our grade 9 to 11 students will be at school from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm with a lunch time scheduled until 12:30 pm.  The cafeteria will be available for morning snacks prior to 8:30 am and for lunch. Students are dismissed at 12:30 pm.
