Eligibility

Ten scholarships are awarded each year to students who face significant financial barriers to participation in post-secondary education. This may include students who identify as Indigenous, Black, or a person of colour, students living with disabilities, LGBTQIA2S+ students, and students of all gender identities. The intent of the Uggla Family Scholarship is to promote equity and remove historical and existing discrimination, including barriers to full participation in social, cultural, economic and political life.

Other eligibility criteria include:

  • Available to domestic (Canadian) students admitted for the fall term to any undergraduate degree.

The UBC International Scholars Program is for international students who have demonstrated leadership qualities, exceptional contributions to their communities, have outstanding academic performance, and require meaningful financial support to attend UBC.​


The International Scholars Program application is due November 15. It’s recommended to submit well in advance of November 15 in case of technical difficulties.

There are four categories of prestigious need-and-merit-based awards available through UBC’s International Scholars Program.

You won’t select which award you wish to receive when you submit your application – our team will automatically consider you for the awards that you are eligible for.

To be considered for the Centennial Scholars Entrance Award:

  • You must be a strong academic student and meet all UBC admissions requirements.
  • You must demonstrate financial need.
  • You must be a Canadian citizen,  permanent resident, or protected person in Canada.
  • You must be entering directly from high school or transferring from another post-secondary institution.
  • You must apply to a direct entry undergraduate program at UBC, and not have a previous degree.

Although you can specify two undergraduate degree choices in your application to UBC, your award application will only be considered for your first-choice campus and degree.

The Centennial Scholars Entrance Award is separate from the Presidential Scholars Award. You are eligible to apply for both awards, provided you meet the criteria.​

UBC is looking for the most accomplished and promising Canadian citizens and permanent residents to join our community. The Presidential Scholars Award program offers the most prestigious awards available to students who are entering UBC. These include a one-time award of approximately $5,000, and renewable awards of up to $40,000 on the Okanagan campus, and $80,000 on the Vancouver campus, each payable over four years.​

The Dr. M. Wosk Environmental Leadership Award was established by Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation for the development of youth leadership in 2006. The leadership fund is used to engage, train and empower today’s youth (age 15-19) with the skills necessary for the future sustainability of our spectacular regional parks.

Participants will have training in ecological issues and environmental preservation as well as the organizational and communication skills necessary to make a profound difference. The impact of their work will be felt by all as they grow to become the leaders of the future.​

The 2026 Quest for Excellence Scholarship Program is now open for submissions until March 6th 2026


The REMAX Quest for Excellence scholarship program is a cash scholarship that recognizes students for their ongoing community contributions and pursuit of leadership. Through this scholarship program, REMAX Canada is pleased to offer 40 scholarships of $1,000 each to students across Canada (except for Quebec).

The 2026 Quest for Excellence program will invite eligible students to write and submit an essay based on one of three key themes: charitable community contribution; the vision for a brighter future; and ensuring Canadians have a safe, secure and affordable place to call “home.”

Eligibility Criteria

Terry Fox Humanitarian Awards are open to students of all abilities.

To be considered for the Award, applicants must be:

  • In good academic standing.
  • Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
  • Students graduating from secondary (high) school or students completing their first year of CÉGEP or students who have completed secondary (high) school
  • Involved in voluntary humanitarian activities (for which they have not been compensated).
  • Planning to or are already studying towards their first university degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution, or entering their 2nd year of CÉGEP in the upcoming academic year.

Applications are submitted online and must be completed before the deadline of 11:59 pm PT on December 1st.

Have you shown a commitment to making a positive difference in your community? You may be eligible for a TD Scholarship for Community Leadership valued at up to $70,000 over 4 years toward a post-secondary college or university education.

The University of Toronto National Book Award Program recognizes and rewards the very best Canadian secondary school students, regardless of which university those students choose to attend. To be eligible to apply to the Pearson International Scholarship, you must be:

  • an international student (i.e. a non-Canadian requiring a study permit);
  • enrolled in your final year of senior secondary school in 2025/2026 or have graduated no earlier than June 2025; and
  • beginning your studies at the University of Toronto in September 2026.


The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship is the university's most prestigious award for international students. It recognizes outstanding academic achievement, creativity and leadership potential.​

The British Columbia Retired Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association (BCRPVPA) awards up to ten (10) bursaries/scholarships, in the amount of $1000 each, to students who graduate from the BC public school system and who are continuing their education at an accredited post-secondary institution. (Students planning a “gap year” should apply in the year in which they register in a post-secondary program.)

Applicants who are pursuing education in trades, technical and career fields, as well as those entering universities and colleges, are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be judged on their demonstrated
leadership and service activities within the school and community as well as academic skills. Financial need of applicants will also be a consideration.

The Capilano Community Leadership Entrance Award recognizes BC high school students with documented leadership and volunteerism in the community and demonstrated strong academic standing. Valued at up to $3,500 towards tuition and tuition surcharges, twenty of these awards are offered each year to BC high school students with a maximum of one student per school, per year.​

1.​. All Capilano Community Leadership Entrance Award applications require a completed nomination statement from a BC High School Representative.
2. Representatives may complete as many nominations as desired; however, only one student per high school may receive an award.
 3. Students must also submit a completed online application and a Leadership Skills and Community and Campus Engagement Worksheet.

​​SFU Entrance Awards: Entrance awards are based on community contributions and financial need, and are available to domestic high school applicants.

SFU Bursaries: SFU offers a number of large-value entrance bursaries to assist students for whom the cost of attending university would be a significant impediment. Entrance bursaries are available to domestic high school applicants.

There are a number of bursaries and scholarships:


Scholarships and bursaries are put into place for either a specific post secondary institute, a particular area of study, for having accomplished or been involved in a sport or some other reason. It is important when considering applying for one between December and March every year that you review the criteria for each fund.

David Lam/BC TEAL English Language Learner Scholarship was established by the TEAL Charitable Foundation to honour David C. Lam, the 25th Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia. During his lifetime, David C. Lam was respected for his commitment to excellence, English language study and public service. The scholarship is valued at up to $4,000. The David Lam/BC TEAL English Language Learner Scholarship is awarded annually to an English language student who wishes to study at a post-secondary institution, has excelled academically and has taken an active part in community and/or school service. ,

Please note that applicants for the David Lam/BC TEAL English Language Learner Scholarship must be documented permanent residents or citizens of Canada. International students on study visas are not eligible for this award​

National Scholarships are designed to recognize all-round excellence. They are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic performance to candidates who demonstrate ability for creative and innovative thought and a passion for the pursuit of learning. National Scholarships also recognize exceptional achievement in extracurricular activities such as the arts and athletics. A special emphasis is placed on a candidate's commitment to community service through ongoing contributions to school and community life.


 Each school is able to nominate up to 4 students for the National Scholarship Program (note: a school can nominate 1 additional student (in addition to the 4) if that student is an international (visa) student).  Schools are not nominating students for a specific scholarship.  The nomination is for the student to be considered for the scholarships available within the National Scholarship Program.

The B.C. Excellence scholarship is awarded to 55 high school graduates who have demonstrated service and leadership, both at school and in their communities, and who show aptitude for and commitment to their chosen career or area of post-secondary study.

Note: students may apply for both the B.C. Excellence scholarship and the Pathway to Teacher Education scholarship but they can only be awarded one.
