Parents and Guardians,
Please read the attachment from District 43 Trustees regarding the Graduation Pranks and Vandalism.
Every year our school district experiences damage done to schools through Graduation Pranks. The vandalism in the school, to the buildings and grounds is so severe that it totals tens of thousands of dollars each year.
Pranks of any sort are not acceptable at anytime during the year. Pranks that occur during the school day that disrupts the school environment and running of the school, damages the school facility, creates an unsafe environment, and frightens students and staff are unacceptable. In addition pranks violate the school and district Code of Conduct.
Unfortunately, some students feel that it is acceptable and a right of passage to disrupt the learning environment and damage our school. Younger students witness this disrespectful behaviour and see this as a grad activity. We have clearly outlined for students that this is not how graduates behave or model their legacy at Port Moody.
Over the years our Graduates have found positive ways to leave a thoughtful legacy. Students are welcome to meet with the administration to discuss any ideas.
