Sunday November 18th was marked by the celebration of life for Amanda Todd. We have been waiting for further information before proceeding with a plan to honour her memory. After consultation with the Todd family, the schools in the south side of Port Coquitlam will be collecting donations in support of two initiatives.
It is the wish of the Todd family to have a park bench placed in Settler’s Park adjacent to Hazel Trembath Elementary. The bench costs $1200. Once that sum of money has been raised any additional funds will be donated to the already established initiative of the Amanda Todd Legacy Fund. Donations will be collected until Friday December 7th, 2012.
The Amanda Todd Legacy Fund information states, “The dream of helping kids is being carried on in the Amanda Todd Legacy, established by her family. This initiative will raise money for anti-bullying education and for support programs to help young people with mental health problems and educational initiatives.”
Donations will be collected at the Hazel Trembath Elementary office (please make cheques payable to Hazel Trembath Elementary with Amanda Todd Fund in the memo line). This information will also be circulated to the other schools on the south side of Port Coquitlam as the Todd family has connections to many of the schools through Amanda’s activities and friends, and Ms. Todd’s teaching position.
