    • ​​The PNE Fair runs from August 17 – September 2.
    • Training and orientation will take place throughout the first 2 weeks of August depending on your department and position.
  • HoursThe PNE Fair is open from 11AM – 11PM – with a variety of shifts available from 8AM – MIDNIGHT.
  • Availability Requirements: Must be available for up to full-time hours (40 hours per week) including evenings, weekends, and late nights from August 17 – September 2.
  • ​Base wages start at $17.40/hr with 5% additional pay in lieu of vacation & other benefits, resulting in a total of $18.27/hour.​

    The 92nd British Columbia Highland Games will be held at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam on Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15, 2024. This is a two-day moveable-feast of cultural activities, piping and drumming, highland dancing, whisky school classes, vendors, children's activities, highland dancing, live Celtic music, cultural workshops and many other activities.  

    *Four hour minimum time commitment. In return, you get a cool event tee-shirt, a free lunch and get to enjoy the Games. 

    Volunteers are needed between June 13th and June 16th. 

    • ​Thursday, June 13, 2024:  Service entrance volunteers (to assist with access to venue) 7 am - 5 pm (Thurs-Sun)
    • Friday, June 14, 2024:  Rod's Big Tent Kitchen Fest Crew, Whisky & Oysters (Serving It Right cert. req'd)
    • Saturday, June 15, 2024: Volunteers needed: 7 am-10 pm. Each volunteer shift is 3-4 hrs.

    Summer Programs Volunteer Application

    Grade: 10-12

    Location: SFU Sustainable Energy Engineering Building (Surrey, near skytrain station)

    Volunteer Duties:
    • Assist with taking attendance and sign-in and sign-out procedures
    • Plan fun activities and games to enhance student engagement during pre-care and post-care sessions
    • Provide support to instructors during Coding Club workshops and summer programs, which could include duties such as setting up the classroom, leading icebreakers and games, assisting students with learning materials, and ensuring the availability and upkeep of necessary supplies for various activities.
    • Contribute to the improvement of the program by participating in evaluations, completing reports, taking photos, providing feedback, and sharing success stories.
    Selected applicants are required to participate in an in-person, three-hour training session at the SFU Sustainable Energy Engineering building. Date and time of this training session are TBD, but will likely fall on a day between May 28-June 5.


    Time commitment: 

    • At least two 3.5-hour shifts (9:15 am-12:45 pm or 12:30 pm-4:00 pm) on June 8 and/or June 15 (both Saturdays).
    • At least two weeks of summer programs that run between July 2-Aug 23. Volunteer shifts for summer programs are either 7:45 am-11:00 am, 10:45 am-2:00 pm, or 1:45 pm-5:00 pm. There are also longer shift options, which are from 7:45 am-2:00 pm and 10:45 am-5:00 pm.

    This non-profit organization has been providing outdoor-based camps for ages 5-12 and other programs in the Tri-Cities since 2019. They are always looking for kind, patient, and respectful people to volunteer. Strong volunteers eventually may have the chance to become staff.

    Activities at camp include swimming, boating, active games, sports, table games, arts and crafts, talent shows, and more based on the interests of participants. Out-trips include places such as White Pine Beach, Rocky Point, Crash Crawly's (when heavy rain is forecast), and pools, parks, and playgrounds throughout the Tri-Cities.

    The Port Moody Public Library provides volunteer opportunities for youth. You can get experience, leadership skills, and volunteer hours working with kids. All volunteers receive a reference letter with hours volunteered at the end of the program.

    The teen volunteer application process includes the following four steps:

    • Come in for an interview.

    Fraser River Discovery Centre in New Westminster is introducing ​a new volunteer youth program. They are looking for youth wanting to commit volunteer time at the FRDC to gain valuable work experience and complete volunteer hours for graduation. Volunteers must be 15 years of age or older and should have a desire to work with children and families.

    Summer Camp Assistant:
    Under the direction of the FRDC Education team, you will perform a range of duties at the FRDC, all 
    designed to connect summer campers with the Fraser River Basin!
    Responsibilities:
    • Provide campers with a fun, interactive, and memorable experience.
    • Assist with summer camp activity preparation and set-up.
    • Facilitate/lead summer camp activities.
    Time Commitment:
    • Summer Camp Volunteers are required to complete a minimum of 60 hours over the course of 
    8 weeks (from July to August).

    Public Programs Assistant:
    Under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator and Public Engagement Manager, you will facilitate 
    interactive public programs geared towards children and families. 
    Responsibilities:
    • Enhance visitors' experience with registered or drop-in public programs.
    • Lead visitors in interactive learning activities.
    • Engage with the community and promote the FRDC’s role in connecting people to the Fraser 
    River.
    Time Commitments:
    • Public Program Volunteers are required to complete at least 80 hours from September to June

    Do you like sports, recreation, and kids?  Want some meaningful volunteer opportunities that support building skills for future employment?​ The  Moresports Youth Leadership program​ trains youth (Grade 8 – 12) through a process of leadership identification, engagement and development. Through school and community partnerships MoreSports is able to offer a variety of training experiences with recognized credentials at no cost (i.e. High Five Certification, First Aid, Coaching certificates, Autism Training)​. You decide which training options fit into your schedule.​ Receive valuable training and explore personal strengths and start accumulating volunteer hours at the same time.

    More Sports is currently in need of volunteers for the After-School-Programs, 1/2- and full-day camps during school breaks and on Professional Development Days.

    ​Youth leaders come from diverse backgrounds and sport experience, but they all share a passion for working with and helping kids. 

    Volunteer hours and activities are tracked and recorded so each participant is provided with the necessary documentation and references required for future​​ opportunities. ​

    Who? Reliable, trustworthy, helpful students (grades 10-12) who are open to talking to new students and can be flexible with the schedule and placement. Ideally you speak a second language.
