SD43 District Mountain Biking Team
The SD43 Mountain Biking team for students in grades 8-12 from any of our middle and secondary schools or alternative schooling platforms is being run again this year. Last year’s events went very well and I’m looking forward to an opportunity to coach athletes who wish to pursue Mountain Biking as a sport again this year.
We will run with five opportunities to come together. These will be rides that are pre-planned and monitored by the coaching staff. They will happen in April and May during the week after school at 4 pm – 5:30 pm on the following dates:
1. Wednesday April 30 at Burnaby Mountain
2. Wednesday May 7 at Bert Flinn Park
3. Wednesday May 14 at Bert Flinn Park
4. Wednesday May 21 at Burke Mtn
5. Wednesday May 28 at Burke Mtn
Students are expected to meet at the location listed for the week. Each week an email will be sent to team members and coaches to let them know details of how the week’s event will shape up. An informational meeting for parents, riders and school sponsors/coaches interested in the program will be held on
Wednesday April 23 at a location TBA at 4 pm.
If any students at your school are interested, pls. email jstromgren@sd43.bc.ca by April 14th. There is no need for school sponsors, but any adult who is interested is welcome to come along.
For schools registered with BC School Sports there is potential for a trip to the BC School Sports Mountain Bike Championships which are in Burns Lake, BC on the weekend of May 24/25th. More details are forthcoming on that trip. If you are an Athletic Director and have students interested in competing for your school you must be sure Mountain Biking has been listed on ExNet for your school, and your roster must be registered with ExNet by April 14th. Contact me if you need further assistance with that element.
