SUMMER LEARNING 2017 STUDENT REFUND/WITHDRAWAL POLICY

 

 

Refunds on Deposits

 

  • Advanced (High School) Credit Courses
  • Secondary Skill Building Courses
  • Secondary Remedial Courses

For the above courses  we reserve the right to charge a $25 transfer fee

The $100 deposit secures a place in the course and provides a textbook.

Refund timeline:

May:

A full $100 refund on deposit will be given on course cancellations until May 31.

Effective June 1:

A partial, $40 refund on deposit will be given if:

  • The student cancels their registration prior to course starting, or
  • The student withdraws without attending the entire first week of the course (and returns all textbooks in good condition, if applicable).

The entire $100 deposit is refunded if:     

  • The student has attended the entire first week of class* and then withdraws (returning all textbooks in good condition, if applicable), or
  • The student completes the course (returning all textbooks in good condition, if applicable)

Note:  If the student has used (i.e., written in) the workbook provided (applicable courses only), $25 will be deducted from the refund.  This covers the cost of the workbook.

In order to withdraw and request the refund PRIOR to the course starting, please e-mail cerefunds@sd43.bc.ca (be sure to include the student's full name, the course name and number in the e-mail).

In order to withdraw from a course AFTER the course has started, please visit the office at your Summer Learning school site.

*Full refunds are permitted after the first week attendance due to the fact that these students meet the attendance criteria for being fully fundable by the Ministry of Education for the course.

Elementary and Middle Skill Building Courses

 

There is no deposit for these courses other than Middle Band.  The Middle Band deposit of $50 covers the cost of music books.  A student taking one band course is refunded $25 and a student taking two band courses (i.e., Advanced and Beginning Band) is not refunded anything.   

Online Fast Track

 

For the above courses  we reserve the right to charge a $25 transfer fee

  • The student withdraws from the course prior to completing 5%* of the course work

The entire $100 deposit is refunded to School Aged Students (Under 19 as of July 1, 2017) if:     

  • The student completes 5%* or more of the course , and
  • Returns textbook in good condition, if applicable

 

In order to withdraw and request the refund PRIOR to the course starting, please e-mail cerefunds@sd43.bc.ca (be sure to include the student's full name, the course name and number in the e-mail).

In order to withdraw from a course AFTER the course has started, please visit the office at your Summer Learning school site.

 

*Full refunds are permitted after students complete the first 5% of the course due to the fact that these students meet the "activation" criteria for being fully fundable by the Ministry of Education for this Distributed Learning course.

 

 


 

 

 

 

Refunds on Tuition

Graduated Adult Students (19 or older as of July 1, 2017 & have graduated from high school)

 

 

Students who withdraw from a course at any time between registration and prior to completion of 5% of the course will have $100 deducted from the tuition refund. 

No tuition refund will be issued for withdrawal requests received after completion of 5% of the course.

In order to withdraw and request the refund PRIOR to the course starting, please e-mail cerefunds@sd43.bc.ca (be sure to include the student's full name, the course name and number in the e-mail).

In order to withdraw from a course AFTER the course has started, please visit the office at your Summer Learning school site.

International Students

Online Fast Track:

Students who withdraw from a course at any time between registration and prior to completion of 5% of the course will have 50% deducted from the tuition refund. 

No tuition refund will be issued for withdrawal requests received after completion of 5% of the course.

 

Face to face courses:

Students who withdraw from a course at any time between registration and prior to the third class will have 50% deducted from the tuition refund. 

No tuition refund will be issued for withdrawal requests received after the start of the third class.

In order to withdraw from a course AFTER the course has started, please visit the office at your Summer Learning school site.   

 

 

Summer Learning
