Walter and Wayne Gretzky Scholarship Foundation for the Blind Youth of Canada
Overview:
In honour
of their outstanding commitment to young Canadians with vision loss, the
Walter and Wayne Gretzky Scholarship Foundation was established in
1996.
Each year, it presents scholarships to eligible students with vision loss who are planning to study at the post-secondary level.
Amount of Award:
Scholarships are in the amount of $3,000 - $5,000 each.
Eligibility:
Candidates must be:
- Blind or living with vision loss;
- A secondary school graduate entering their first year of post-secondary education;
- A Canadian citizen or have held landed immigrant status for one year prior to the date of application.
All scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, service to the community, and financial need.
Applicants will be expected to have achieved a high academic standing and to have exhibited superior leadership.
The
applicant's essay and answers to the questions on the application form
will play an important role in the selection committee's final
decisions.

Deadlines:
Application form, essay and all attachments (excluding official transcripts) must be sent by May 31.
An official transcript of your academic standing for the current year must be received by July 31.
