Description

"We are pleased to inform you that the Young Activists Summit will be held online on 20 November 2020 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. EST to mark World Children’s Day. #YAS20 is co-organised by the NGO dev.tv, the United Nations Office at Geneva, Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS) and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.

This year, the Young Activists Summit will be an interactive and engaging online event intended for a young audience. #YAS20 is inviting youth from around the world to join and take action with four continents coming together for a one-hour discussion on global issues.

The coronavirus crisis has been a massive disrupter but also an opportunity to rethink the world we want for tomorrow. Young people have the right to demand that the recovery plans they will fund be spent on rebuilding sustainable societies that protect the interests of present and future generations. Following up on the global conversation initiated by the UN in the context of its 75th anniversary, #YAS20 will facilitate a dialogue across generations.

To be held under the slogan ‘The world we want, time for change’, the Young Activists Summit 2020 will bring together seven young activists who are currently advancing climate action, biodiversity, human rights, sustainable & ethical fashion issues. They will include Finlay Pringle, a 13-year-old marine conservation activist from Scotland.

Join us for an engaging live event to be streamed online on 20 November 2020 at 9:00 a.m. EST (more information on the livestream will be made available on this page):

  • You will learn about the seven guest activists and the causes they advance, hear the views of experts, as well as watch videos on these topics
  • Teaching resources are now available on our website in French, English, Arabic and Spanish
  • During the session, youngsters will be given the chance to actively participate and put questions to the activists

The Young Activists Summit will also launch a social media campaign. A series of web-documentaries in English, French, Spanish and Arabic, will feature the activists, international experts and other public figures on the issues of climate, biodiversity, human rights, sustainable & ethical fashion. The campaign will start on 20 November, World Children’s Day and will culminate on 10 December, Human Rights Day.

We invite you to register your classes directly on our website. YAS20 is proud to invite you to be part of the event!

Please don’t hesitate to share this email and attached invitation! For any questions, please contact us at info@youngactivistssummit.org "
