Good afternoon, we are close to wrapping up week one of the new school year and on the student front it has been a very positive and energizing start up. I wanted to take a couple of minutes to provide some information and updates.
We are in the midst of the impact of moving provincially to a new student information system which has presented most schools with some challenges for the start up. One of the impacts on us has been the ability to assess how accurate our data is and in particular parent email addresses. Please be patient as we sort through the data, I know there are some families whose information did not transfer and are not receiving this email and there are likely some contacts receiving this email that may be emergency contacts rather than parents. We are adding information to our website as well. It will be especially important as we send out the student information verification forms that we receive all of them back with accurate information. We really appreciate your help with this.
We have seen increased registrations over this past week and are waiting to hear back from the district regarding approval to add another division. While positive that the school is growing, it unfortunately means that we will likely be reorganizing and adding another grade 7/8 division for the English stream. This means we will not be able to start students in core classes tomorrow as hoped. As a result of this we are planning to delay the start of our pancake breakfast so that all students will be there, as will all staff. The original start time was 8:00 and has been changed to 8:45. All students have been informed both by an announcement and by teachers.
A special note to parents of our grade 6 students that immunization forms are being sent home today and will need to come back to us as soon as possible as our first date for immunizations is the 16th of this month.
