Reminders from Ms. Jung
Safety First
Now that you've sanitized or washed your hands to start the day off right, let's review the signs to watch for when completing the Daily Health Check:
fever or chills
difficulty breathing
runny nose
headache
diarrhea
cough
sore throat
sneezing
body ache
loss of sense of smell or taste or appetite
extreme fatigue
nausea or vomiting
R is for Respect
Please show you are a responsible student by putting away your phones at the start of the day and keeping it out of sight in your bag until 3. We are considering lockers for students starting with our grade 8s and this requires another level of responsibility from students. Are you ready!? This means your hoods are down and caps or hats are already off, too! Did we mention that your dress sense is professional for a place of work as a student!?!
English Public Speaking Finalists
Congratulations again to our finalists, Anna, Tom, Emilie, and Isabella.
Ms. Jung will touch base with you today about the details for next week's District Finals on Wednesday.
Library
The library is open today and tomorrow at lunch for all students to read quietly. Bring a library pass, please. No in and out privileged! Thanks, Ms. Leonard!
Open Gym
There is no open gym today. Bring something outside to play with - rubber balls on the upper deck and not volleyballs and basketballs, please. Pack that deodorant for daily use!
Hot Lunch
Order your hot lunch online now! Your parents received an email already! It is pay as you go or order and pay all at once!
Baker Drive!
Did you go to Baker Drive and are in grade 8 looking for a leadership opportunity?? Please see Ms. Jung outside during breaks if you are interested in volunteering there in June. She'll have more information for you at that time.
Garbage Receptacles
Did you know that we are noticing more garbage around the school and it's from us?! Let's be more respectful and responsible by using the designated receptacles. There are a set of bins outside the library, at the west entrance where the hand wash station used to be near Buller Street and a set by the Playground! Thanks!
Happy Birthday to Jonah and Ms. Clark, our custodian, today! It' a sunny day for a birthday!
Badminton
All members of the badminton club please meet in the Gym at the start of lunch today for a team photo.
Friday, April 22 is the Annual SD43 Leadership Conference and again this year, it will be VIRTUAL, that means you can log on from the comfort of your own home! This even is in the morning from 9:00-11:30am for all interested middle school students. See the posters around the school for more information and registration QR Code. Parents will need an account with School Cash Online to register.
The first 100 students to register will receive an awesome Swag Bag filled with goodies from local businesses. There will be an amazing keynote speaker...and loads of door prizes (including a tablet!!)
So, get your name in for this awesome event TODAY.
Quotes from Richard Wagamese's Book
Sunlight spills over the mountain like a newfound joy. There is the sparkle for the symphony of the sky all glassine, blue and shimmering on the placid face of the lake. Birdsong. Life energy reawakening all around you.
Teachers are hidden in every leaf and rock.
