Daily Announcements- 07-May-2021

May 07, 2021

Good morning to our guests here today. Moody is a wonderful place to be and we hope you will share in that a little today with us, too! Please give Ms. Willan a warm welcome back to Moody!

This is also day 2 of our partnership with Ms. Sara, our Artist in Residence!

Reminders from Ms. Jung

We've done our Daily Health Checks, have washed our hands umpteen times, have been through many masks and countless paper towels. We've kept our distance and are keeping our belongings and food scraps together so that we keep each other safe. Our hard work continues to make a difference to keep us all safe. Our hard work can also be the greener choice! Using reusable masks is healthier for our environment. Using one paper towel every time we wash our hands is just a really good decision to make! This is possible if we shake 12 times first, before drying our hands! Remember that video your teachers shared with you?!

Stay tuned for more planet healthy tips next week as our PAC online Tru Earth Fundraiser continues on! Thank you for choosing your choices wisely and respectfully!

Gauss Math Contest

Are you ready for Wednesday's Gauss Math contest? Next Wednesday, we are writing the real math contest! Be sure to take some time this weekend to check out the strategies and topics for review by searching for University of Waterloo Gauss math contest and by visiting our TEAMS link from Monday for solutions from Monday's contest!

Problem Solving Tips from Ms. Armstrong

We face problems every day. We can fix some problems easily, but other problems are not as easy to solve. When we do not take action, stress can build up until we do not know what to do next. This affects our mental health, relationships, decision making and our learning. Listen to this helpful way to tackle problems. The next time you are facing a problem, follow these steps:

Step 1: Decide what the problem is. Try to be as exact as possible. It is easier to solve a problem when you know what needs to be fixed.

Step 2: Think of different solutions or end goals. Think of as many as you can. Write them all down, even if they seem silly.

Step 3: Pick the solution that you think will work best.

Step 4: Decide what you need to do to try your solution. This is your plan. You can break your plan into smaller steps if you need to.

Step 5: Put your plan into action.

Step 6: Look back to see if your plan worked. If it did not work, pick a different solution from your list in Step 2 and make a new plan. Keep going until you find a solution that works.

If you have a problem and you need support, ask an adult in the building to help you with these steps. You don't need to remember them; we will work with you or give you a copy of them if you want.

What you do need to remember is that we CAN help you.

Mental Health Week

Today is the last day of our Mental Health announcements, but that doesn't meant hat we have to stop learning about it or finding new ways to become healthier, happier humans! this whole year has been a challenge: we haven't seen our friends as much, lots of fun school activities have been postponed until its safe to start them again. We do our best anyway, right? Sometimes our best is setting an example for others who are feeling low and sometime our best is just showing up to school no matter how we feel. On those days, be kind to yourself and remember;: no living thing blooms all year long.
