Greetings ÉMMSOTA Community
As always we hope you are staying well, getting outside for some fresh air and getting your children back into some new routines around learning. It has become ever more apparent this week how much we miss your kids on a daily basis. It has been nice to jump in on a couple of virtual class meetings this week on Microsoft Teams and to see some of our students who returned to pick up a few of their essential items over the past few days. Life is very different and it affects us all in different ways. I would like to change the way we use the phrase “social distancing" to “physical distancing", we need to ensure all of us are having social contact on a regular basis even if it is from a distance. Reach out to family, friends and neighbours and help everyone stay positive and connected. It is our community that helps us all get through these days.
We are hoping to get up and running with a weekly e-news that will feature some information and hopefully some community connections form inside our virtual classrooms. Teachers have been meeting with their classes online in Teams all this week and starting to get some routines and expectations in place for our continuity of learning. I have attached a copy of “Online Class Meeting Guidelines for Students" that teachers have been sharing with their classes. This is a good starting conversation as you help your child establish the new normal. Classes are re-working their class charters and expectations to fit into the new learning platform and finding that elements of R-E-S-P-E-C-T are just as important on-line as in the physical classroom and school. Please engage your children in conversations about how they can contribute to a positive learning culture online. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Our ÉMMSOTA PAC has decided to host a virtual PAC meeting on Tuesday April 14th using the Zoom Meeting Platform. This will be a great opportunity to connect with some of our parent community and check in. Pleas join us if you can. See Zoom Logon information below and ÉMMSOTA PAC Meeting Agenda attached.
Thank you to our entire ÉMMSOTA community for your patience as we convert our delivery of education over to this new online version. It will have its bumps along the away and we appreciate the energy all of you are putting into helping your children get back into some normalcy of routines and learning. We encourage you to reach out at any time if you are experiencing any difficulties as a result or our current state of affairs. Please just let us know how we can help.
