What's Happening Around CRE

CRE Swim-a-thon Fundraiser - Grade 4&5 Students.(for Heart & Stroke Foundation): On the morning of Friday Feb. 14th, Valentine's Day, our Grade 4 and 5 students are going to do what's good for the heart! Divisions 1, 2 & 3 will be heading over to Hyde Creek for about an hour's fun in the pool. Admission is a $2 (or more) donation to Heart & Stroke. A few details, all of which will go home in a notice soon:

  • Students will be riding a school bus to and from the pool
  • This is a morning activity.  Exact times will be given in the permission notice to go home soon.
  • Parent volunteers are not needed as pool staff and volunteers will provide all required supervision in the pool.  Parents who wish to attend may do so, by admission.
  • In addition to using the leisure pool and water slide we will ask interested students to volunteer to swim a length in the lap pool.  The goal is to keep Hyde Creek's "Swim-a-Thon" going by having continuous lap swimming.
  • All students will be at the school that afternoon for classroom Valentine's activities

CRE has a proud tradition of supporting the Heart & Stroke Foundation and we are excited to participate in this fundraiser!

Sexual Health Education ("Body Science"): the CRE PAC is once again sponsoring talks by Dr. Brandy Wiebe (associate of Saleema Noon) for all students at CRE. A permission notice with complete information went home on Thurs. Jan. 30th, all students must return the permission slip to indicate whether they will or will not be attending.

Some reminders...

You can enter your child's absence 24/7 using the simple Absence Report e-form available on our school website.  This saves you the trouble of phoning our school office.  The form can be viewed here.

If bringing a lunch to the school for your child, please help us maintain a safe, orderly school by bringing your children's lunches to the office counter, where we will make sure it gets delivered to your child.  This is better that attempting to take a lunch directly to your child's classroom.

A reminder to ensure that your child has a complete change of clothing at school (kept in a plastic bag on their coat hook).  Rainy weather means puddles and wet fields where students play. Changing into dry clothes if necessary will help your child be comfortable and better able to learn in the classroom.

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration for September 2014 will be held throughout the district on February 4, 5, 6, 2014.

Parents should register their children at the elementary school serving their neighbourhood/catchment. Please bring the following documents:

Proof of BC residency for parent (one of): rental contract; property purchase contract; income tax statement; property tax statement; and 2 of the following documents: utility bill; BC driver’s licence; BC vehicle registration; Canadian bank or credit card statement; BC ID.

Only those students who are five years of age on or before December 31, 2014 can be accepted for September 2014.

Further information on the Kindergarten program may be obtained by phoning your neighbourhood elementary school.

PAC News!

The CRE PAC (Parent Advisory Council) is actively involved in supporting students' school experience.  Hot lunch days, "fun-raisers", and special events are just some of the ways our PAC supports our school.  All CRE students benefit from the work of our PAC.  All parents are encouraged to even attend just one PAC meeting a year.  PAC meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm
