In light of the tragic events in Tumbler Ridge, we understand there may be heightened concerns amidst our school community. Given what we have recently experienced we understand that news like this may renew anxiety amongst our school community.

Coquitlam RCMP, Port Moody Police and SD43  are working in collaboration to ensure the safety and security of our community.  Coquitlam RCMP have advised that there are currently no known or alleged threats to our schools. In support of staff and students, officers from the Coquitlam RCMP Youth Team and Port Moody Police Youth Liaison Officers will be conducting routine visits to schools throughout our district.

Coquitlam RCMP want to stress that no corroborating information or evidence has been identified indicating students or staff were at risk as a result of these previously reported incidents.

“We understand the frustration and concern that the school community may be feeling in response to these incidents. Making a false police report is a criminal offence and investigators are working to identify the individual(s) responsible so they can be held accountable," says Inspector Veronica Fox, Coquitlam RCMP, Community Programs and Administration Officer, “We want to stress that the incidents that have taken place over the past two weeks are designed to create fear and gain publicity. Publicly circulating or amplifying information can contribute to further incidents."
