Secondary Skill Building courses are non-credit courses. Students may take these courses to review previously covered course content OR to preview a course that they will take in the future. Students completing these courses do not receive a final letter grade nor is this course recorded on their transcript.
Only students currently in Grade 8 or older are eligible to register for afternoon classes.

**Tech Ed (Wood & Aerodynamics/Rocketry) for students entering Grades 7, 8, 9, or 10 will be located at Dr. Charles Best Secondary
WOODWORKING: Get ready to make some sawdust and build a project that you can be proud of! By learning how to use several woodworking machines you will gain the ability to create useful products out of wood. Among other things you will learn how to cut, shape, and join pieces of wood together. Your skills will grow in this exciting “hands on” environment where you will get to see your work pay off
AERODYNAMICS AND ROCKETRY: This Pre-Engineering course will be an opportunity for students to explore the wonders of aerodynamics and flight. Students will construct and test Lighter than Air Gliders and other vehicles. Topics covered will include Newton’s laws, Aerodynamics as well as the various shop and safety skills necessary to construct the projects.
***Coding (Info & Comm Tech 9): This course is for students currently in Grade 8, 9, or 10 who are beginners or novices when it comes to computer programming (coding) but want to advance their coding abilities while learning skills needed for taking ICT and Business Ed courses in high school:
- basic coding techniques
- html coding & scripting; including website design
- flash animation
- use of Scratch and other software
- Digital media
- Based on new
curriculum: ADST 9 Applied Design, Skills and Technology
