Visual & Performing Arts Gr 1-5:
This is a chance for your child to extend their knowledge and abilities in the areas of visual and performing arts. Students will complete art projects and participate in various drama activities.

English for School Success Grades 1 to 5(for students new to Canada)
Designed for students new to English and to Canada, this program teaches beginner's English language skills that will support future academic success and introduces students to Canadian culture.
French Immersion Kindergarten to Grade 1 Transition
This program provides positive learning opportunities for French Immersion students leaving Kindergarten in an age appropriate setting that is responsive to their developmental needs. Students will engage in French literacy activities with a special focus on oral language development. This course is only open to students who are enrolled in French Immersion this September.

The newly revised BC Curriculum features more integration of subject areas, with the intention that students gain a deeper understanding of curriculum content.

Kindergarten to Grade 1 Transition
Kindergarten to Grade 1 Transition courses are only for students who will be in Grade 1 as of this September. This course provides students who are leaving Kindergarten with further learning activities and experiences in an age appropriate setting that is responsive to their developmental needs. Students will engage in literacy, numeracy, and some outdoor learning. Students entering Kindergarten this September are not eligible for any Summer Learning courses.

Math Skill Building Gr 1-5This class gives students a chance to preview their next grade's math learning outcomes or spend a bit more time to aid in the mastery of their current year's skills For example, a Math Skill Building Grade 1 class might include students who have completed Grade 1 and would benefit from extra time. The class might also include students who have completed Kindergarten and would like to get ready for Grade 1.
These courses are available to all elementary students in grades 1 through 5, including ELL(ESL) students.

Montessori: Curriculum Inquiry Gr 1-3
Students explore a topic or subject of inquiry and personal interest. Each morning will be structured as an Independent Work block, with time and space to explore interests within a range of curriculum areas. Taught by qualified, experienced Montessori teachers. Only students currently in Kindergarten to Grade 3 and enrolled in (or formally registered for this September) for SD43 Montessori programs can register for this Montessori Summer Learning. Program availability and grade configurations are subject to Summer Learning enrolment

Reading and Writing Gr 1-5
This is the cornerstone of a great education and a great opportunity to get ready for next year - or - spend some more time on this year's skills. Classes are designed to give students more time in a subject area or to provide an opportunity to preview a subject area. For example, a student might take a class at their current grade level to allow for extra time to learn important skills and concepts. Other students may wish to take a class one grade above their current grade to preview the next level. These courses are available to all elementary students.

Science (Outdoor Focus) Gr 1-5
This course allows students to explore scientific pursuits both in and out of the classroom environment. Note that students will visit environmental features within walking distance.

Information Technology: Computational Thinking & Coding Gr 3-5
This course will take elementary students (Grades 3-5) through a series of activities, both unplugged (hands on classroom, individual and small group) and plugged (computer based), that teach how to think in logical and computational ways. Included will be introductory coding ("computer programming") projects.

Courses marked "Y" are offered at the specific school in that column. Once registration starts they are either marked "Open" meaning there is plenty of space in the course or "Space is limited" meaning there may be limited space left in this course. When registering online you will be informed if a particular course is full. If course is full please select a different course or check back regularly as space may become available.
