​Three SD43 students have been named finalists for a Loran Award, a prominent honour bestowed by the Loran Scholars Foundation based on evidence of character, service and leadership and offered in partnership with 25 Canadian Universities. 

Kieran Cyphus (Heritage Woods Secondary), Jamie Fajber (Gleneagle Secondary) and Anna Yang (Dr. Charles Best Secondary) are among the top 84 of 4,438 candidates across Canada (one of 17 in B.C.) selected as a finalist for the scholarship which is valued at $100,000 over four years of undergraduate study, including mentorship and summer experiences.

Up to 32 Loran scholars will be selected for the honour, while the foundation will grant up to 94 finalist and provincial awards ($2,000 or $3,000 each) to promising candidates. The three SD43 students will be attending the national selections take place on February 3 and 4 in Toronto, Ontario.
