Elementary Skill building classes designed to give students more time in a subject area or to provide a chance to preview a subject area.  For example, a Reading & Writing Grade 3 class might include students who have completed Grade 3 and would benefit from extra time.  The class might also include students who have completed Grade 2 and would like to get ready for Grade 3.  These courses are available to all elementary students in grades 1 through 5, including ELL(ESL) students.

Note:  Classes do not cover the entire curriculum in the course area. They do NOT replace an entire grade.

Middle Skill building classes designed to give students more time in a subject area or to provide a chance to preview a subject area.  For example, a Math Grade 6 class might include students who have completed Grade 6 and would benefit from extra time.  The class might also include students who have completed Grade 5 and would like to get ready for Grade 6.  These courses are available to all middle school students, including ELL(ESL) students.

Note:  Classes do not cover the entire curriculum in the course area. They do NOT replace an entire grade.

Remedial Classes provide a path for students who achieved 40-49% in a course to attain a passing grade.  Students in Remedial courses will be able to upgrade their mark to 50% (C-).

Secondary Skill Building:  These are non-credit courses designed to improve a student's level of success in required core courses leading to graduation.  These classes are generally used as a preview to a course.   Some skill building courses like Tech Ed and Home Ed/Culinary Arts provide students with an exploratory experience in these subjects.

Note:  Classes do NOT replace an entire grade.

Advanced Credit (High School Credit):  Complete for-credit courses at the grade 10, 11 and 12 level.  These are full courses offered in a compressed timeline to allow students to complete the course in a shorter period of time.  Courses are offered in a face-to-face format in the Summer Learning program.  Some courses are offered in an online-blended format as part of Coquitlam Open Learning's Fast Track (Online Blended).
