Student Services at Gleneagle Secondary School provides both direct and consultative service to students with special needs and the staff that support them. As well, we make referrals for specific district services when necessary; and work with families and community agencies.
Ø Learning Assistance
Learning support for students with Individual Education Plans who have mild to moderate learning difficulties. Services include assessment, consultation, collaborative planning and instruction. Many of the students with IEP’s will have a block in The Learning Center in one or both semesters, according to their unique needs.
Ø The Learning Center
is a Resource Room where Student Services teachers provide instruction and support, in lieu of an elective. Adaptations and modifications are implemented in consultation with course teachers. Numerous assistive technologies are available, including Kurzweil, Dragonspeak and Natural Reader.
Ø Skill Development Program
Learning support and instruction for students in low -incidence special needs categories. Services include assessment, IEP development, programming and instructional support, and resource development.
Ø Youth Worker
In consultation with Student Services teachers, counselors and/or administration, the youth worker helps to implement the support plans developed for individual students.
