The Ministry of Education is responsible for setting the overall funding and broad policy directions for education in British Columbia in Kindergarten through to Grade 12 (K-12), and is accountable to the people of BC for the content and quality of education. The ministry establishes curriculum for the K-12 education system, and provides the relevant provincial curriculum guides that define the expected learning outcomes for each subject or course. The ministry also plays an important role in keeping parents and the public informed about what BC's children are learning, how resources are being used, and the learning outcomes that are being achieved.
