Universities and Colleges have opened up their registrations for the 2012/2013 school year. Students can apply online directly to the institution of their choice or register via the a central site www.applybc.ca Students can see their counselor or Ms Baker in the Career Center for help with post-secondary planning and registration.
November 4 from 12:30 to 3:00 is Post-Secondary Day at Best. The following institutions will be here to meet with our grade 11 and 12 students: BCIT, Capilano U, Royal Military College, Douglas College, Kwantlen, SFU, Thompson Rivers University, Trinity Western, University of the Fraser Valley, UNBC, and UVIC. Period 4 and 5 classes for grade 11 and 12’s will be cancelled so that the students can attend the information sessions on November 4th.
McGill University’s information session is here at Best on November 9th from 1:00-2:00. UBC will have their info session at Evergreen Cultural Center in Coquitlam on Nov. 7 from 6:30-8:30pm

Public Health Nurses will be at Charles Best School once again on Fri. May 28th to provide the TdaP (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) and HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) (girls only) vaccines to those Grade 9 students with returned consent forms who have missed previous immunization dates in Sept 2009 and/or March 2010.
If you wish your child to be immunized at school and have not returned a signed consent form, please do so ASAP.

Summer Learning 2010 Update Sign Up for High School Credit Starts May 25th and May 26th.
To meet the high demand for online registration, we are adding capacity to our system and SEPARATINGTHE SIGN UP DATES to better meet your needs. To improve the process students are asked to not sign on to the registration system unless they are updating their account or signing up for a course.
High School Credit course registration will return on the following dates:
Tuesday, May 25th, 6am Grade 10 course sign up (eg. Math 10, SS 10)
Grade 11/ 12 course sign up will not be open on May 25th
Wednesday, May 26th, 6am Grade 11 and 12 course sign up
Thursday, May 27th onwards All grade 10, 11 and 12 courses remain open for sign up

| The Provincial Government is once again conducting satisfaction surveys for all students in grades 10 and 12. The school administration will be meeting with all students in Englich 12 and Planning 10 over the next three weeks to have them complete the five minute survey.
Parents, of students in grades 10 and/or 12, are also invited to participate in the government's survey. Parents are asked to contact the school to recieve a random password (does not identify who is filling the survey out. It simply matches the survey to the school - it is totally anonymous) and then to click HERE for the link to the survey website.

| In Semester 1 and 2, Counsellors will be inviting students in English 12/Communications 12 classes to sign on to the Ministry of Education website to give permission for their marks to be transferred to PSIs of their choice. If students miss these sessions, they can go directly to the ministry site and do this:
https://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/exams/tsw/tsw/student/and
Students who already have an account, (usually from checking previous Provincial exam marks) can log in and follow the procedures. Students who do not have an account will need their Provincial Education Number (PEN) to Create an Account.
Should students have difficulty with this process, they can see their Counsellor for assistance.
