Cafeteria

Centennial Teaching Kitchen

Our Goal: To teach students the basic fundamentals of working in a commercial kitchen.

Cafeteria courses are offered as electives to Grade 11 and 12 students at Centennial Secondary. Grade 12 students can enrol in the Ace It apprenticeship program which upon passing will give them their level one certificate towards becoming a Red Seal Chef. Students in our program learn about food safety and sanitation, along with the basic skills that are required to work in a restaurant or industrial kitchen setting. Students prepare food items on a day to day basis in the various stations in the kitchen along with   weekly written assignments related to their practical learning.

The Culinary Program at Centennial Secondary provides 150 to 200 meals to students and staff in the Cafeteria each day. We also prepare food items, such as cookies, muffins and fruit salads, which go into over 350 bagged lunches that are delivered to elementary schools in the district each school day. The Culinary Program also caters events for Centennial School functions, the School Board Office and various events in the community.
