Coquitlam summer school information brochures are now available in the counselling area. Students are advised to create or update their on-line accounts now – if you registered for summer school or on-line courses previously you may have to update your account information.

Grade 10 Credit Courses: May 15th to June 28th
Grade 11/12 Credit Courses: May 17th to June 28th
Grade 9/10 Remedial: May 29th to June 28th (Online registration this year)
Grade 8-10 Skill Building: June 5th to June 28th

Remedial courses (for students who achieved 40 to 49% in a Grade 9 or 10 core course) run from July 4 to July 31. Students registering for remedial courses need to obtain an access code from their counsellors. |

Students planning to attend post-secondary institutes in September 2012 should complete the electronic PSI Selections form online to have their marks released to post-secondary institutes. Students need to do this before the April 30 deadline.
The electronic PSI Selections Form is now available online for students graduating this year. This electronic PSI Selections form should only be submitted by students who expect to graduate this year and are also applying to a post-secondary institute.
An instructional document is attached.
Students access the online form by logging into the Student Secure Web (SSW), https://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/exams/tsw/tsw/student/, and click the menu option "Post Secondary Institutions Selections".
Note: Students who do not yet have a SSW account will need to create one prior to gaining access to the PSI Selections form.
Students must complete the PSI Selections form by April 30, 2012 to have course interim transcript information forwarded in May 2011 to the BC Electronic PSIs list (PSI code 999) and to the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) institutions (PSI code 888).
Interim transcripts are not sent to any PSI other than the BC and Ontario PSI listings (codes 888 and 999)
Students must make their PSI Selections by June 30, 2012 to have the final transcript information sent to PSIs by July 31, 2012.
In addition to the BC Electronic PSIs option (999) and the OUAC Electronic PSIs option (888) in Section 1 of the form, students may submit a maximum of six selections from Sections 2 and 3 of the online form. |

Deadlines are approaching for many scholarships and other forms of financial aid. A Scholarship and "Financial Aid information session was held on October 13. Grade 12 students should be researching possible scholarships, awards and other financial aid. Hand-outs from the scholarshiip session are available on the Counselling website under the "Scholarships and Financial Aid" link at the bottom of the webpage.

The Major Entrance Scholarship program offers the most prestigious awards available to students entering UBC, including one-time awards of at least $5,000 and renewable awards of up to $40,000 over 4 years. Candidates must be outstanding academic students, show significant leadership skills, and be involved in extracurricular and community service activities. Interested students should submit their academic resumes to their counsellor by 4:00pm on Friday, January 6. Students who will be nominated by Centennial School will be notified by the scholarship committee and asked to prepare the full application. |

On Tuesday, November 1st, in Period 4, representatives from BC post-secondary institutions will be at Centennial to provide program and admission information for Grade 12 students.
Post-Secondary Day provides a wealth of information for students. Students in Grade 12 courses have a lot of course material to catch up on, but these sessions are valuable and many of these institutes will not be holding additional information sessions. Plan to attend several sessions.
Information sessions will be held in Period 4 plus there willl be a mini-fair in Period 5. |

Students who have exceptional ability in French, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Punjabi or Spanish, and have not previously received credit for these courses, have the opportunity to challenge a language course for credit. Go to http://web.deltasd.bc.ca/schools/secondary/challenge-exams and type in your application online before printing out the application package. Completed applications must be returned to your counsellor before Friday, October 28. |

Many Grade 12 students will be looking into plans for next year. The Go Global Expo, a free information fair coming to Vancouver on Sunday, Sept. 18, showcases options for students who are interested in broadening their education by going abroad.
There will be information there about a wide variety of opportunities, including:
- volunteering, interning and working overseas
- organizing a gap year
- studying abroad for the summer, on exchange or for a degree

| 3/2/2010 9:19 AM | As a convenience to Centennial students, one sitting of the LPI exam will be held at Centennial School on Wednesday, April 8. Students planning to attend SFU, UBC, UVic, Capilano University, Douglas College, or Langara College may be required to write the LPI if they do not meet the English Language requirements for the post-secondary programs.
Cost of the LPI is $67 if you register before March 5. After March 5 the cost will increase to $99.

The new SFU/Douglas College Partnership allows students who have been accepted at SFU to also take courses at Douglas College. The attached a Powerpoint presentation will provide you with more information.
Here are some of the advantages:
a. take some courses at Douglas and save money
b. may live closer to Douglas
c. may want to take specific course at Douglas because of the smaller classes
d. more flexible course scheduling
e. extra support, closer supervision and more encouragement |
