The City of Coquitlam is seeking youth aged 14-18 years (Grades 9 to 12) to become members of the Coquitlam Youth Council. Council members are involved in local governance and decision making within their neighbourhood and community. They provide ideas, feedback, and suggestions on city wide initiatives, youth programs and other issues. Members also have the option to become involved in City Council committees. This opportunity is an excellent leadership and volunteer experience.
The Coquitlam Youth Council meets monthly, and has two meeting locations: Poirier Community Centre, and Pinetree Community Centre. Interested youth must apply to become members, and must be able to attend a council retreat on Friday September 24 (a School District Professional Day) from 9am – 4pm.
Applications will be accepted until September 24, however interested youth are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. To obtain a copy of the application package, please contact Cyndi Lathrop at 604-927-6917 or email to clathrop@coquitlam.ca.
