Photo Day – Thursday, October 8th
Mountain West Studios will be taking individual photos of each student in our gym. All established Health and Safety protocols will be followed during Photo Day. Only one learning group will be allowed in the gym at one time – so students can only get their picture done during the designated class time.
One important note: *Students having their photo taken must have written parent permission to do so*. Please check your SchoolCashOnline account for the form that must be filled out prior to photo day.
All ordering is moving online this year to reduce touch points to a bare minimum and the amount of paperwork needing to be handled. All orders will be shipped to home and no more order deadlines. Parents will be able to order any time during the school year and it will be printed and shipped on demand. Each photographed student will receive a small card with their access code and online ordering information.
Meet The Teacher Week
As we are unable to meet with families face-to-face and invite them into our learning spaces, teachers are going to reach out to families during the week of October 5th to 9th. This has been a startup unlike any other and we want to continue to engage our families and let everyone connect to their child's learning group and learning environment. Please look for a message from your child's teacher next week for a peek into the learning group's routines, structures and spaces.
Parkland Terry Fox Run Day – Friday, October 9th
We will be recognizing and celebrating our school Terry Fox Run on Friday, October 9th with a run on school grounds. Learning Groups will have a schedule for when they will be running and will be running outside as individual running groups. Thank you to everyone who has donated already and as a special treat, if we raise over $500 as a school community, Mr. Hunter will be hosting a virtual assembly from the roof and giving our students a special virtual tour of all the mysteries hidden on the roof of the school!
Grade 4 FSA Update
The Grade 4 FSAs have been postponed until the new year – we will be revisiting them after the Winter Break. In the meantime, any Grade 4 families who would like their child exempted from the FSA, please contact Mr. Hunter directly at chunter@sd43.bc.ca
Parent-Teacher Conferences & Early Dismissal @ 1:45 PM – October 21 and 22
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be done virtually this year on October 21 and 22. Your child's teacher will be contacting you with scheduling information in the next few weeks. Please note, there will be an early dismissal on both days at 1:45 PM.
Finally, a note about Appropriate Outdoor Wear
As will are playing outside at recess and lunchtime, please make sure to send your children with appropriate outdoor wear (including footwear) for the weather. Rain boots, rain pants, hats and umbrellas can help children enjoy their outdoor time even more and keep them warm and dry. A change of clothes would also be helpful for some students. Even on rainy days and snowy days, the fresh air break is very beneficial for children's physical and mental health especially during this time with limited movement around the school and classrooms.
