ÉMMSOTA Principals Update

February 23, 2022

Good Morning EMMSOTA Families.

Hope you all enjoyed the extended Family Day weekend. Nice to see the weather changing to brighter days even if they are a bit cool this week.

I thought I would just send out a quick update on the shortened week ahead and share some gratitude for our most recent fundraisers and kindness efforts.

REMINDER that Wednesday the 23rd  and Thursday the 24th are both early dismissal days to allow for out Student Parent Teacher 3 Way Conferences. Wind/ Fire Pods are dismissed at 12:15 and Earth/Water Pods are discussed at 12:20. If you have not scheduled an appointment please check in directly with your child's teacher. We do appreciate that parents take an active roll in the assessment and reporting processes here at EMMSOTA. Our Triad Conferences are a great way to celebrate learning and set goals for the remainder of the year. You children continue to do amazing things and we all want to be part of their learning plan.

I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Ms. Jung and our Leadership Students for their work raising funds and sharing kindness in their Wigs for Kids Campaign. See below.

We topped $1000 over the weekend! Yippee- that's 1/2 a wig! Thanks to all who joined in the fun!

** I also want to applaud our Leadership Students under the guidance and support of Ms. Egelstad and Mme Grayston as they organized several events during our RAC (Real Acts of Caring Week) including a candygram positive message campaign that raised several hundred dollars for the Rain City Housing Project, supporting homeless youth in the lower mainland. Well done Students!

** A big thank you to EMMSOTA PAC Parent Michelle Blackwell for her “flash" Krispy Kreme Donut fundraiser. $650 was raised to support EMMSOTA PAC initiatives. The donuts came and were gone in seconds thanks to our pre-orders and efficient distribution after school last week. Staff appreciated the several dozen donated by Kimiko McDonell for our Friday Collab time. They were also gone in a flash. Cheers to all who helped pull it together.

** Our now Annual Global Coffee Fundraiser has started up and thanks to Co-Chair, Keri LeCorre for getting us rolling into our March Break with some very fine and aptly named coffee brews! See attached flyer and order now! Order your coffee online at www.globalcoffeefundraising.ca/moodymiddle
