- It's Pi day Friday! Let's celebrate by welcoming our visitors around (emphasis on "round") to Moody today: Hello to Ms. Ali, Ms. Dumoulin, Mr. Millar and Ms. Twohig. We hope you'll circle around and around so we can pi you!! 3.14! Get it?
- 3.14 is the number we use in class to represent pi when calculating answers about circles. If 3 is the third month and 14 is the day. So, on Sunday, we celebrate pi day. Here at Moody, we are celebrating today instead! Pi is a special number that never repeats and is irrational, believe it or not! No matter what circle we look at, when we divide the circumference by the diameter of a circle, we get pi. For fun, can you remember pi to 10 past the decimal? 3.14159 26535
Maybe your teacher will show you a little history video that Ms. Jung sent by email yesterday. Visit piday.org for more information about beautiful round pi! Happy Pi Day!
Reminders from Ms. Jung
Since we are celebrating Pi day, here's a Friday round-up tip! Students, if you are lucky enough to be on the playground today, be careful when playing on the donut! Keep your head up to avoid the metal beam that supports the donut, please!
As the weather warms up, sometimes our masks get moist or wet inside especially during gym. Remember to pack an extra mask or two this weekend so you are always prepared with a clean mask to keep you and others around you, safe. Thank you!
Global Coffee Fundraiser
This afternoon, Ms. Jung will be coming around to classes today to distribute
hot chocolate and coffee orders that total less than 4 bags. Thank you for
supporting our school initiatives.
Spring Ahead!
This weekend we spring ahead due to daylight savings time and lose an hour on Sunday at 2a.m.! Experts say the best way to transition is to go to bed 30 min earlier tonight and another 30 minutes earlier tomorrow night. That just makes good sense to head to bed earlier! Sleep well and sweet dreams, but not yet!!! Enjoy today's day of learning, first!
High 5 to:
Div 16 for organizing the button day contest. Also to everyone who made buttons!
Teachers for getting those reports in. Nice to see student reflections in those reports
Student leaders for doing announcements
Ms. Jung for helping us all celebrate Pi Day with round donuts! High PI!
Ahmed in Div 10 for politely coming in and saying hello to the office in the mornings
all those students who follow procedure and sign out before leaving for early dismissals
A few jokes from Mr. Clay - please submit your jokes to him anytime!
