Grade 8 Transition Letter to Parents

January 09, 2019

Grade 8 Parents/Guardians,

In January we begin the process of transitioning our grade 8 student to secondary school. Based on the address we have on file for each student, most of our students are assigned to Terry Fox Secondary School. If a student is assigned to any other secondary school, according to the address we have on file, we will contact you to confirm what secondary school your child is assigned to and what dates you need to know for information sessions at those schools.

If you wish to have your child attend a different high school than his/her assigned school, you will need to submit a Cross Catchment application to the district. This is an online form that will be available from February 7th to February 13th. For further information, please see the information package and online application on the District website at:
http://www.sd43.bc.ca/Schools/Pages/CrossCatchment.aspx

Here are the Important Dates for the Terry Fox Articulation process:
❖ Thursday, January 10th Parent Information Night (in the theatre) 6:30 – 7:30
❖ Thursday, January 10th School Tour 7:30 – 8:00
❖ Wednesday, January 16th Counsellor Visits with Course Selection Booklets 1:00 – 2:00
❖ Friday, January 18th Sign up for Honours or Language Exams with your teacher
❖ Friday, January 25th Honours and Language Challenge Exams 9:45 – 12:00
❖ Friday, January 25th Grade 8 Tour of Fox 12:15 – 2:30

If you have any questions about the Grade 8 transition process, please do not hesitate to contact me at djohannson@sd43.bc.ca.

Sincerely,

Don Johannson, Counsellor
