English 11
This course takes the critical and analytical skills students have developed in English 9 and 10 in speaking, writing, and reading, and further refines them to prepare students for English 12 and the English 12 provincial exam.
English 12
Thematic emphases and critical analyses involving increasingly complex materials will be explored. Discussions and writing will focus on a range of literature including short fi ction, drama, poetry, and the novel. The provincial exam is worth 40%.
Communications 11
This course is for students who are seeking a more practical, less analytical, approach to English, or whose postsecondary choice does not require English 12. Students who take this course will focus on practical writing skills which will prepare them for Communications 12. Those who graduate with Communications 12 will not have the academic requirements to enter university directly from secondary school. (Prerequisite: Recommendation of English 10 teacher)
