Current weather forecasts show a clearing until between 3 and 4 pm today. At that time, snow is likely to begin and will continue through the evening . Currently, there is a snowfall warning for up to 20 cm or more in various regions of the our area tonight and early tomorrow.
If this break in the weather materializes, hopefully, this will allow the city crews a chance to address the current road conditions around schools.
The District will be monitoring the situation and making a decision tomorrow by 6:30 am about school closures. Information about school closures will be on News 1130 and CKNW 980, as well as the District website www.sd43.bc.ca. If schools close, staff will not need to report to work, although a skeleton crew of volunteers will be in attendance.
Should schools be open tomorrow, please remember that conditions could still make it difficult for some to get to school and that the families need to make a decision on the safety based on their streets and how far they have to travel.
